Force ready for physical onslaught

2015-04-18 00:00

CAPE TOWN — Western Force coach Michael Foley says they are expecting a physical onslaught from the Stormers when they meet in a Super Rugby clash in Perth today.

The Stormers started their Australasian tour with two losses (Highlanders and Hurricanes), but rebounded well with a 32-18 win over the defending champions Waratahs last weekend, and will be eager to finish their tour on a high.

“As with any South African opponent, it’s important that we’re up for the physical challenge in defence and at the breakdown, which has been a feature of our performances in our past three matches,” Foley told the Force’s website.

“While playing physically is a foundation, we have to play smart.” He said it is about creating momentum and playing with awareness to take the opportunities they create.
