Forest Hills bag first win of league season

2014-05-08 00:00

FOREST Hills FC hosted Yellowwood Park in their first home game of the season last Tuesday night.

Since last season, the Forest Hills lads are still unbeaten in the league at home and they were keen to extend that record against a tough opponent.

Forest Hills dominated early possession, and the deadlock was finally broken with striker Blair Thompson slotting one past the goalkeeper at the far post. Forest Hills then doubled their lead with Issac Hlope breaking down the left flank and beating the defender to cross the ball in for Thompson to finish.

Yellowwood Park fought back and scored from the penalty spot courtesy of Jonathan Lorenz after the referee awarded a penalty for a handball in the box the score 2-1.

Late in the game tempers flared and unfortunately three Yellowwood Park players and one from the home side were sent for an early shower after an off the ball altercation. The game eventually finished 2-1 and Forest Hills recorded their first win of the league season.

In the earlier game, the Forest Hills Reserve team comprehensively beat Yellowwood Park Reserves 5-0 with man of the match Trystan Tanner scoring a well-deserved hat-trick. Tom Host and Brendan Ansell added their names to the score sheet with a goal each.

Tomorrow, Forest Hills take on Blues from Pietermaritzburg.
