Four held with alleged stolen computers

FOUR men have been arrested in Newcastle for allegedly stealing computers from Phunguphungu Primary School in Dannhauser.

The men were arrested on Tuesday after being found in possession of computers loaded in a bakkie.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said that 20 computers valued at about R100 000 were seized by officers. He said six men are thought to have been were involved in the robbery on Monday, and two are still being sought. Zwane said security guards at the school were overpowered by the men, who tied them up and took their cellphones and the school’s computers.

Phunguphungu principal Sipho Mhlungu said he was hurt on learning that the computers had been stolen as they were used by both his pupils and the surrounding community.
