From Hilton to high fashion

2011-04-16 00:00

SOUTH African artist Conor Mccreedy joined a host of celebrities on a New York fashion show catwalk to celebrate all things Scottish.

The former Hilton College pupil, who has taken the art world by storm, took part in the Dressed to Kilt show at the Hammerstein Ballroom alongside comedian and actor Billy Connolly, musician, Paulo Nutini, actors Jim Parrack (True Blood), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Katrina Bowden (30 Rock) and Matthew Settle (Gossip Girl); Miss Scotland Nicola Mimnagh, country music legends Big Kenny Alphin, Kix Brooks (Brooks and Dunn); Scottish rugby star Thom Evans and many more.

Dressed to Kilt is the highest profile and most prestigious Scottish fashion show in the world and features work by designers Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood.

The theme for this year’s event was “country chic” which drew its inspiration from country music’s roots and origins, the ballads and songs from Scotland.

Mccreedy, who is also a part-time model, recently showcased his paintings in an exhibition in Johannesburg and has also had exhibitions in New York. — Arts Editor
