Frustration at police’s call centre

2014-11-28 00:00

AFTER two men tried to enter his home, a local man has expressed his frustration and disappointment towards the SAPS call centre.

A resident of the Ivy Gardens complex, who asked to remain unnamed, said he is still waiting for police to show up or contact him after intruders tried to enter his home on Wednesday night.

“We were woken at around 1 am by the dog barking. I looked out the window and saw two men trying to enter the premises,” he said.

He alert the complex’s security guard. They saw two suspicious looking men lurking at the front of the complex and gave chase, but were unable to apprehend the suspects.

He said he called the police’s 10111 number at 5.20 am yesterday.

The Witness spoke to the resident at around midday yesterday and he said he had still not heard from police.

This is the second known incident in just two days where the police’s emergency call centre has come under fire from victims of criminal activity.

In yesterday’s issue of The Witness, a man whose son was shot claimed that he had to call the emergency number three times before anybody could be of proper help.

Police were not available to comment.
