Fun and entertainment for all at Hibiskusfees

2011-04-04 00:00

THERE was a carnival atmosphere as the first ever “Hibiskusfees” was held over the weekend at Suid-Natal Primary School in Port Shepstone where members of the community came to be a part of the many activities that were on offer.

A dog show featuring some of the area’s best handlers, vintage cars on display, singing and entertainment as well as four-wheel quad-biking all formed part of the two-day event.

Event spokesperson and organiser Wim Buitendagh told The Witness that the event was a great success. “The community really rallied together and came out to show their support which was fantastic,” he said. “When Diee Campbells [musical act] performed in front of everybody on Saturday night we had a full tent and everybody had a good time.”

Buitendagh added that, although it was the first time that the event had taken place, early indications suggested that it would become an annual event.

“It went well so at this stage it certainly look like there will be another one next year,” he said.

All funds raised during the festival go directly to the school.
