Fur foe: SA beauty goes naked for the beasts

2011-07-14 00:00

WEARING nothing at all and posing next to the caption “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur”, sultry actress, model and staunch supporter of animal rights Christina Storm appears in a brand-new ad from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) Asia-Pacific.

She is the first South African to pose for Peta’s iconic “Naked” campaign. “We have so many stylish, cruelty-free clothing options available, there’s just no excuse for killing animals for a coat,” she says.

Peta Asia vice president of international operations Jason Baker, applauded Christina Storm for wanting to help save animals’ skins by showing some of her own.”

A Peta statement said rabbits and other animals raised for their fur go insane from spending their entire lives in cramped, filthy cages without shelter from the elements. A Peta

undercover investigation of fur farms in China — the world’s leading exporter of fur — revealed that workers smashed the heads of animals against the ground. Some of the animals were still panting and blinking their eyes as they were skinned alive.”

China has no laws that protect animals. For more information, visit PETAAsiaPacific.com.
