Gala dinner, dance greet Paraguay

2010-06-07 00:00

TEAM Paraguay were treated to a night of song and dance at Woodridge Country Hotel on Friday night to officially welcome them to the province.

The KwaZulu-Natal government organised a gala dinner to mark the arrival of La Albirroja that was attended by KZN Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize and other provincial political heavyweights, who were there to ensure that team Paraguay feels at home.

The Amasinamuva cultural group from Mpofana performed stirring traditonal Zulu dances for the visitors.

“We hope that you will feel most welcome …” said Mkhize.

“We want you to make this your home away from home and long after the World Cup has ended we wish for you to return to our beautiful country and province.”

He congratulated the president of the Paraguayan Football Association, Juan Angel Napout, for enabling the people of KZN to cherish this World Cup legacy.

“From now on we are friends. Even if we meet in the finals we’ll remain friends, but I am sure you understand that we are going to ensure that the cup stays here on the African continent,” said Dr Mkhize.
