2010-04-09 00:00

IDOLS winner Jason Hartman performs in the Pietermaritzburg Botanical Gardens on Sunday to help raise money for the SPCA.

Since winning Idols, the singer and songwriter has been touring the country and promoting his new album On The Run. He will be performing with his band, which consists of his father Sam on guitar, and brothers Scott (drums), Josh (lead guitar) and Donovan (bass).

The SPCA Music in the Garden concert also features The Pixie Bennett Band from Durban; the Splayed Ferrets, who will be belting out seventies signature rock tunes; Tuff Gong, who will be showcasing some original reggae and funk rock; the jazz Ke Orchestra, consisting of third-year music students from the University of KwaZulu-Natal led by Jonathan Judge on sax; and South American rhythms courtesy of Pan Latino.

In addition, the Cordwalles Rock Band will perform songs from the Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Bon Jovi, and the Pietermaritzburg Philharmonic Strings will add a classical dimension to the concert.

Tickets are R100 for adults and R50 for children under 12 and can be purchased at Dulcé Café at Parklane Spar, online at www.witness.co.za, at PMB Tourism at Liberty Midlands Mall, the SPCA in Woodhouse Road or at the Red Door from Jess or Tosch. Food will also be on sale at the concert that starts at 11.30 am.
