TONIGHT

• The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal is proud to present Steve Newman and Greg Georgiades at 6 pm. Steve and Greg are known for their acoustic string-instrument adventures in sonic storytelling. Doors open at 5.30 pm and tickets are R50 (R20 for pensioners and students). • Cliffy’s presents the Rock Vibe with Jammo, from 7 pm onwards.

• Mountain View Country Pub presents live music with Jammo after the Sharks-Stormers game on the big screen.

 

SUNDAY

• Goldfish perform live at the Pietermaritzburg Botanical Gardens, back by popular demand. The event is scheduled to take place from 10 am until 6 pm. Food and drinks (full bar) will be available. No food or drinks will be allowed to be brought in. Tickets are available at www.computicket.co.za for R120 or from Franki Bananaz Pietermaritzburg, Butcher Boys and Crowded House staff for R100.

• Mountain View Country Pub invites you to a day of the finest live music Pietermaritzburg has to offer, featuring Jammo and friends. Genres include rock, reggae, blues, pop, country, rock’n’roll and eighties favourites. Enjoy the best of the Rolling Stones, Eagles, Dire Straits and many more in a pleasant country environment with a host of family-oriented activities on offer.

• Oude Meester presents the Solomon Willy Band in concert at the Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown. Doors open at 1 pm, and music starts at 2 pm — note the one-hour later starting time, a change for the new year. The other change is that the headline concerts will now be presented on the first (as opposed to last) Sunday afternoon of the month. Tickets are R20 presale, and R30 at the door. WEDNESDAY

• Music Circle takes place at Mountain View Country Pub from 6 pm. This is an informal jam session for music enthusiasts of all levels. Entry is free.

• The next Durban Showcase takes place on March 7 at the Musketeers Restaurant at the German Club in Westville. The line-up of musicians includes Celtis, Shannon Kenny and Fiona Tozer, Outro Caminho and Richard Haslop. Music starts at 7:30 pm. An à la carte menu and cash bar will be available, and there is safe parking. Entrance is R30. For more information and to book, phone 031 266 0836.

• Madala Kunene will be performing at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music (UKZN) from 6 pm. Tickets are R30 (R20 for pensioners R20, and R10 for students). • March 9: RAMfest takes place around the country, and arrives in Durban at Origin Night Club. The line-up includes Netsky (Belgium), Niskerone, Hyphen, SFR and many more. Tickets are R120.
