TONIGHT

• Local band Tuff Gong will be on stage at the Red Door from 9.30 pm. Doors open at 7 pm, entrance is R10 before 9 pm and R30 after 9 pm. Strictly no under 18s allowed. Inquiries: Jamie at 082 975 4473.

• Robin Auld will be performing tonight at St Clements in Musgrave Road (Durban) at 7.30 pm. Tickets are R50. Inquiries: 031 202 2511.

• Joyful Friday featuring DJs Claude (Stereo Candi), Sduz, Lips and Andre (hip-hop) at The Witness Demo Gardens (Alex Park) from 8 pm. Entrance: is R50. Dress: Smart, sexy and stylish. Inquiries: 033 845 1913.

• The Last Musketeer is performing at Collegians Club. Entrance is free.

TOMORROW

• The Last Musketeer is performing at the Bierfassl in Nottingham Road. Entrance is free.

 

SUNDAY

• Goldfish is performing at the Pietermaritzburg Botanical Gardens. Gates open from 10 am until 6 pm. Children under 10 are free. Tickets are R80 presale at Computicket, R100 at the door. Alcohol and glass are prohibited. Picnic baskets and blankets allowed. Support DJs Dino Moran and Ryan Dent; refreshments available at venue; parking and toilet facilities for disabled patrons.

• Strelitzia Room at the Botanical Gardens hosts Jazz Revisited with Hugo, Mike and Jeremy. Inquiries: 033 344 2207 or 083 225 0238.

• Jammo will be playing at Mountain View country pub and entertainment venue from noon onwards. Bring the family and enjoy a variety of fun activities on offer.

MONDAY

• Richard Haslop is the featured guest at the lunch-hour concert at Howard College Theatre (UKZN Durban campus), performing slide guitar, dobro and mandolin. Entrance is free. Phone 031 260 3353 for more details.

 

TUESDAY

• Red Door Drumming Circle starts at 7 pm with the Beginners Circle, where basic rhythms are taught and practised. There is no age limit or age restriction. At 8 pm the jamming session starts, which goes on well into the night. Take your drums, shakers, digeridoo, scratchers or rent a drum. Entry is R10 to be paid at the bar, and an additional R10 if you wish to use a drum available. Phone Tosch for more information at 071 444 2111.

 

WEDNESDAY

• Wednesday Madness at the Red Door with DJ Fidget, starting at 8 pm. Your midweek party with alternative tunes, commercial tunes, and even some dubstep. Entrance is R15. Strictly no under 18s. Inquiries: Tosch at 071 444 2111.

• Calseys hosts Karaoke with Gary and Jen. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.

 

THURSDAY

• Every Thursday night from 8 pm at Red Door, jazz recordings with DJ Cliffbert. Some great classics from pulsating African jazz rhythms to technical contemporaries, spicing up the evening with a bit of soul, funk and blues. Entrance is R15. Inquiries: Tosch at 071 444 2111.

 

COMING UP

• March 4: Killing Iris will be performing at the Red Door.

• March 5: Splayed Ferrets will be rocking the stage at the Red Door. Entrance is R35.

• April 21: Splashy Fen, South Africa’s longest-running music festival, takes place over the Easter weekend. Tickets are now on sale at Computicket and Game stores for R500.
