TONIGHT

• Poobie Naidoo Sports Club (corner Prince Alfred and Retief streets), under new management, hosts a karaoke evening with DJ Mervin from 7 pm. Entrance is R20.

• Cliffy’s hosts open mic with the Plagiarists. Take along an instrument and showcase yourself. Inquiries: 033 396 6710.

• The Red Tap in Howick features the live vibe with Jammo from 7.30 pm onwards. Expect a lively evening with sixties rock to present day, including eighties party favourites, reggae, metal, country and rock ’n roll.

• DJ Alan McCabe (Bundy) at the Kick ’n Whistle at Woodburn Rugby Stadium. Secure parking and food available. Drinks specials. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.

• The Last Musketeer performs at Collegians from 7 pm. Good food and music on offer. Inquiries: 082 761 5249.

• Bat Centre hosts Meskelites (reggae) from 6 pm, and then resident band Soul Force (soul and jazz) from 8 pm.

 

TOMORROW

• Catlike Thieves performs at Jack Rabbits (Morningside, Durban). Doors open at 7 pm. Entrance is free.

• Pegasus hosts karaoke with Gary and Jen after the rugby. Bring and braai. ­Inquiries: 083 532 4415.

• Mountain View country pub hosts music with Jammo after the Super 14 final on the big screen.

• Karaoke with Jen and Gary at Firkin every Thursday from 7.30 pm.

 

SUNDAY

• Durban Afrikaans singer Lee Vaughn will again be performing at the RSG Concert at the Royal Show at 2 pm, along with Arno Jordaan, Pieter Koen and DJ Ossewa.

• Grand finale at Pegasus with Johnny ­McGregor & The Three Must Have Beers from 2 pm. Booking for lunch essential. ­Inquiries: 083 532 4415.

• Tuff Masters (reggae) performs at the Bat centre from 2 pm, and from 4.30 pm it’s the turn of resident band Quiet Storm (jazz and fusion).

 

TUESDAY

• The Maritzburg Musicians’ Club hosts Margaret’s Daughter (from Johannesburg) and St John Haw (from Maritzburg) at the Red Door from 8 pm. Entrance is R20.

 

WEDNESDAY

• The Northway Showcase at the Crusaders Sports Club (Durban North) features ­Margaret’s Daughter (a duo from Johannesburg), Fiona Tozer (Durban folk singer and

guitarist) accompanied on alto sax by ­Reanne Leigh, as well as Lynne Ross and Dave Philips (adult contemporary harmonies). Entrance is R25 at door. Inquiries: John at 082 330 9652.

• Jammo is back this Wednesday at the Nevada Spur at Cascades with four hours of feel-good fovourites, starting at 5.30 pm.

• At Bierfassel Nottingham Road, the Last Musketeer provides the music while you enjoy the good food.. Beer and burger special R11,95. Inquiries: 033 266 6320.

• The Kick ’n Whistle hosts karaoke with Jen and Gary. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.

 

THURSDAY

COMING UP

• June 4: Black Moss and Friends host Drumkit, T.H.O.T.S., DJ Abu and Alpha at the Zulu Jazz Lounge. Tickets are R30 ­pre-booked (073 936 7248) or R50 at the

door. Performances start at 10.30 pm. ­Entrance for women free before 10 pm.

• June 4: Jazzology in concert features guest artist Alec Brits on drums, Jeff Judge on keyboard, Jonathan Judge on sax and Logan Byrne on bass. The concert is at 6.30 pm for 7 pm in the Band Room at St Anne’s College. Tickets: R50. Snacks will be provided, as well as a cash bar. Book with Toni at 033 343 3300. Booking is essential as there are limited seats available.

• June 5: Rowan Stuart will be rocking the night away in Howick at the Red Tap (5 Harvard Street) from 8 pm. Entrance is free. Inquiries: Ma ryse at 079 903  6955.

• June 15: Poobie Naidoo Sports Club (corner Prince Alfred Street and Retief Street) hosts a Ladies’ Night with Damon Beard from 7 pm. R50 entry includes a shooter and table snacks.
