• New Year’s party at the Village Centre in Ballito. 5FM DJ line-up: Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, Gareth Cliff, C-Live, ­Poppy and Rob Vember, plus artists GoodLuck, Niskerone, Gareth Devore, the Spindoctor, G Funk, Yaron, ­Justin Miller, Harel Salkow and more.

• The fourth annual Midmar ­Music Festival features Theo Kgosinkwe, Zonke and Zahara­, among others.

• De’Monique and Fat Boy Scoop will be performing at the Wavehouse in Umhlanga. Tickets can be bought at Computicket.

• Rock the River — the New Year’s party — features Fokofpolisiekar, Hog Hoggidy Hog, Reburn, Half Price, Peachy Keen, Stonecollar, The Modes, Junkyard Lipstick and CY.STR, among others. Tickets are available at the gate, through Computicket, from participating bands, Shoprite, House and Home, Checkers and Checkers Hyper.

• The Rock Bottom Pub and Grill in Umzumbe is hosting a New Year’s party with a beach theme. DJ and drinks specials included.

• The Red Door is hosting a New Year’s party. On the main dance floor are DJs playing music from the sixties, seventies and eighties. On the more-door dance floor is DJ Scotty playing modern rock, metal, indie and punk. Doors open at 8 pm. Entrance is R60. Dance until the sun comes up. Inquiries: Jamie at 082 975 4473.

• February 25: Rewind 80s Music Festival comes to Durban, featuring ABC, Midge Ure (Ultravox), Marc Almond, Howard Jones, Go West and the Village People.

• March 7: Usher will headline the Hansa Festival of Legends Tour at the ICC Durban Arena. Tickets start at R250, and can be bought at www.computicket.com
