TONIGHT

• Cathy Peacock’s Platform Jazz entertains diners at the Westville Country Club. There will be a three-course meal with The Dixie Band providing toe-tapping jazz. Peacock is on trumpet, Ian Holloway on clarinet, Mario Monteregge on trombone, Cloin Mairs on sax, Joe Delew on keyboards, Andreas Kappen on bass and Grant Emmerich on drums. Starts at 6.30 pm. • The Take Over takes place at Madlula’s Place with DJs King Sfiso, Euphonik, China, Chynaman, Bongs and Andileh. Charge: R50.

• Genie in the Bottle (in CB Downes Rd) hosts karaoke and dance with DJ Mervin from 7 pm. Inquiries: 082 253 7076.

• The Kick ‘n Whistle behind the Woodburn Stadium hosts Shaun, who will provide music from the eighties to now to dance and party to. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.

 

TOMORROW

• The Parlotones perform at Pecanwood in the midlands. Tickets are R100.

• Gloucester Blues Project, featuring Nux Schwartz, Ilan Lax, Jon Judge, Frik Enslin, Chris Palframan and introducing Simone Benecke, will be having a blues jam at the Red Door from 8.30 pm. Entry is R20.

• 5FM and Erica Elle present Studio 55 with guest DJs Grant and Anele from 5FM, along with Mimi K and Chunky Charles at Krakatoa from 10 pm. Tickets: R60 at the door. No under 18s.

• Mountain View country pub features Jammo, directly after the Springbok-All Blacks game on the big screen.

• Club CP (Crystal Palace) presents a variety party mix on Saturdays with the funkiest house, R & B, bhangra and old-school tunes from 8 pm. Inquiries: 033 387 7941.

 

SUNDAY

• Rainbow Restaurant (23 Stanfield Lane, Pinetown) hosts the Simba Morri Trio. Doors open at noon, first set 1 pm. Tickets: R30/R20 Rainbow Jazz Club members and Durban Collective members.

• Johnny Zest and friends play at the Lion Park Hotel between 11.30 am and 3 pm, perfoming old favourites from past decades.

• Jammo performs from 1.30 pm at the Olive Tree, next to MacDonalds’ Garden Centre, with a laid-back selection to start, and the potential to get more lively.

• The Nevada Spur at Cascades invites you to join popular pianist Mike, from Marshall Music, for an evening of laid-back entertainment, starting at 5.30 pm.

 

TUESDAY

• The Tippling Wheelbarrows and Chris Melling are the featured acts at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club, at the Red Door.

 

WEDNESDAY

• Jammo is at the Nevada Spur at Cascades, with a wide range of feel-good numbers from 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

• The Kick ’n Whistle hosts karaoke with Jen and Gary. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.

 

THURSDAY

 

• Open mic night at Snap! Wine Bar in Durban from 7 pm to 11 pm. No entry fee.

• Ian Watson and Liezl-Marét Jacobs perform at Howard College Theatre at 7 pm. Tickets: R50 (R30 students and pensioners). Phone Mandy at 031 260 3353.

• Jen and Gary host karaoke from 7.30 pm at Lizards Rock.
