TONIGHT

• The Notorious Braai Gang (NBG Crew) will be blazing the dance floors at Vacca Matta (Golden Horse Casino), featuring 12 DJs and live performances by local Kwaito act, Unklelicious and DJs Deep, Deelou, T-Rocksta and Timone & Pumba, to name a few. Entrance fee is R50.

• The Mr Price Pro beach concert includes performances by Farryl Purkiss, Dance, You’re on Fire, Graeme Watkins Project, Dirty Skirts, aKing and DJ ­Euphonik. The free concert starts at 4.30 pm.

• Moonshadow presents Celtis and Fiona Tozer at the German Club (7 Barham Road, Westville). Music commences at 7.30 pm. Cover charge is R50. There is a fully licenced bar, good food and secure parking. Bookings: 031 266 0836. Inquiries: 072 822 7988.

• Westmore Park hosts karaoke with DJ Mervin, from 3 pm to 10 pm. Phone Mervin at 082 253 7076.

• Arctic Jinn (a dynamic and vibrant funk-pop-rock band from Johannesburg) performs tonight at Alliance Française. Entry is R50 (R25 for members).

• Christopher Duigan performs a range of lively toe-topping numbers for a winter-warmer concert at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone from 7 pm. Cost is R90, which includes gluhwein and soup.

• The Jackie Horner Pub and Grill at 47 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road, Glenwood, hosts Craig Nash from 5 pm. Inquiries: 031 202 9192.

 

TOMORROW

• The Mr Price Pro beach concert includes performances by the Pierre de Charmoy Band, Ard Matthews, Goodluck, Fire through the window, CrashCarBurn, Flash Republic and Dino Bravo.

• Beat-Route will be performing at the Ballito Prawn and Jazz Fest and Jus’ Jazzin programme, from 11 am.

• Christopher Duigan performs a range of lively numbers for a concert at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone from 3pm. Cost is R90, which includes tea/coffee and scones.

 

SUNDAY

• Sunday lunch at Emoyeni this week features a KZN stalwart, Rob Warren. Cost is R120, for a meal and music. For the not-so-hungry, R30 for the music, fresh air and good company. • Soak up the winter sun at Mountain View country entertainment centre, with live music throughout the day with Jammo. This is a one-man outdoor festival of music, with up to 70 songs played on the day from a wide variety of genres, on a top-of-the-line sound system, without the interruption of noisy sound-checks. Full bar and catering available. Braai facilities are also available, as well as a host of fun activities for children.

• Christopher Duigan performs a range of lively numbers for a concert at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone from 10.30 am. Cost is R90, which includes tea/coffee and scones.

• The Jackie Horner Pub and Grill at 47 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road, Glenwood, hosts Collin Rule from 1 pm to 3 pm. The stylish pub also offers a great Sunday roast special for R49. Phone 031 202 9192 to book a table.

 

TUESDAY

• The MMC hosts Bridget and Shannon, with support act Warren Shone. Evening starts at 8 pm, and entrance is R30.

• The El Sombrero Spur at the Scottsville Mall invites you to the popular Tuesday live-music night with Jammo, from 5.30 pm onwards.

 

WEDNESDAY

• Jan the Last Musketeer is back at Bierfassl, where there’s good music and good food from 6 pm. Bookings: 033 266 6320.

 

COMING UP

• July 23: Ashtray Electric will stop in Durban at Unit 11 (191 Matthews Meyiwa), as part of the band’s national tour to promote their new album. Support act is La Els.

• July 24: Sharon Katz and the Peace Train — Rainbow Restaurant does not normally do gigs before pay day, but Katz has visitors from the United States who depart South Africa after this concert, so it was agreed to give them a footstomping bon voyage.

• August 5: Canadian band Sum41 will be performing at the Wave House (Gateway). Tickets are available at www.ticketbreak.co.za for R250.
