PMB Music Market takes place in Ashburton — aimed at students and up (not a teeny bopper jol). At 8 Old Main Road, Ashburton — up the road from Polly Shorts. Food and market from 10 am. Solo musos all day. Bands from about 6 pm.

The free Sunday Jazz Sessions at Suncoast this week features Pieces of a Band and the Burton Naidoo Quintet. Pieces of a Band features vocalist Lebo Sebele, one of UKZN’s School of Music’s most loved singers. He is joined by pianist Lindi Ngonela, drummer Leroy Khumalo and final-year jazz student Langa Ncalane on bass. Pieces of a Band offers a mix of jazz and funk. The Burton Naidoo Quintent features red-hot musos ready to blast the airwaves. Naidoo is on keyboards and he is joined by multi-instrumentalist Martin Sigamoney on saxophone and drummer Bruce Baker. The White Ribbon Alliance passes through Durban. UK Acts that are confirmed include Micachu, Tawiah, Sam Issac, Kelz, Kid Keir, Winumi, Man Like Me, Get Cape Wear Cape Live, Djata Ilebou of Burkina Faso, and Stara Thomas of Tanzania. The SA contingent includes Spitmunky, Ewok and the Hyper Men, Josie Field, Aidan Cornhill and Dearly Beloved. During the day the convoy will be visiting Cato Manor where there will be a free performance at the Cato Crest Hall from 10.30 am until 1.30 pm. All are welcome. The evening event will take place at the Willowvale Hotel, Umbilo at 8 pm (R30).

PMB’s latest hotspot presents the Murmur/Lotus FM after party (after the Royal Showgrounds Bhangra Bash) featuring PMB’s Bhangra DJ Pawan (from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm) and Lotus FM jocks (from 10.30 pm) at 176 Victoria Road. This Sunday’s jazz at StarGazers (located at 6 Parker Road, Chase Valley, Pietermaritzburg) features the band ComBeNaSion — Pietermaritzburg’s new fusion/jazz combo sensation.
