Glenwood dominate Craven sides

2008-06-19 00:00

After much deliberation by the selectors, the KZN U18 and U16 sides for the tournaments during the July holidays have been announced.

The selection follows successful matches against the sides from Mpumalanga that they played at Standerton on Monday.

Three U18 teams were selected with the Craven Week squad of 22 players as well as two Academy sides.

There is just one U16 side to participate in the Grant Khomo Week.

Craven Week will be centred at Affies in Pretoria from July 7 to 12.

The Academy Week is in George and U16 Grant Khomo Week in Ermelo, both from June 30 to July 3.

The selection of the Craven Week U18 side is dominated by Glenwood with seven players and Michaelhouse with six.

The U16 is dominated by Glenwood with 12 players, followed by Maritzburg College with five.

Among the 88 players named in the four teams, 30 are from Glenwood followed by 15 from College.

There are just three players in the Craven Week side that played for KZN in 2007.

Patrick Lambie of Michaelhouse, who also represented SA Schools in 2007, Monde Hadebe (Westville) and Brynard Stander, who was at Westville last year but this year is at the Sharks Academy, return for their second Craven Week and give the side some experience.

KZN play their first match on Tuesday against the Griffons.
