Go Green: beekman group starts beach clean-up

2011-09-12 00:00

THE Beekman Group is mobilising its Go Green Campaign to encourage the South Coast community to get involved in the National Beach Clean-up week which kicks off today.

Samantha Podmore, Beekman Group Marketing Executive, said that the company is encouraging all staff, other businesses, schools and the community, to join in the clean-up. “We want everyone to join in the Coastal Clean-up happening across our South Coast beaches, by taking a few hours to help clean up and keep our beaches free from refuse and litter.”

Four South Coast beaches, Margate, San Lameer, Ramsgate and Trafalgar have all received Blue Flag status. This status gives local and foreign visitors the knowledge that these beaches are clean, environmentally sound and adhere to international safety and other tourist standards.

With the joint donation from the Beekman Group, Coca-Cola, Fever, Ugu Municipality and Hibiscus Municipality these eco-warrior companies have also encouraged local schools along the South Coast to become more involved in the recycling process, the importance of recycling and its benefits to the environment.
