Greytown Road: New offices for Minority Front

2012-05-08 00:00

THE Minority Front in Pietermaritzburg has a new home.

Their new office, next to the Daymed Private Hospital in Greytown Road, was officially opened yesterday by party leader and widow of the late Amichand Rajbansi, Shameen Rajbansi.

Rajbansi was accompanied by two councillors from eThekwini Municipality.

The party’s proportional representation councillor, Radhia Singh, told The Witness: “This is our second office in Pietermaritzburg after we opened the legislature office two months ago.”

The new office would be used by the Minority Front’s councillors.

The office has two rooms to house the PR councillor and secretary. It also has a boardroom and a public foyer to receive visitors.

Pinky Nundlal, the party’s secretary, said Rajbansi had been present, and had cut the ribbon earlier yesterday.

“She gave a speech and spoke on topics regarding the Raisethorpe cemetery and the problems people have been experiencing with the crematorium,” Nundlal said.

“She also spoke about the hikes in municipal rates.

“These offices have been opened for the use of the community.”

Rajbansi would visit the office whenever she was in town, which would be twice a week.
