Head-on: Truck drivers killed

THREE people died after a collision on the N11 involving two trucks between Newcastle and Ladysmith yesterday.

Zinhle ­Mngomezulu of the Road Traffic Inspectorate said the accident happened at about 5 am.

“The trucks collided head-on. The driver of one truck and his son … were killed.

The driver of the other truck, which is believed to belong to Shoprite, also died in the crash … his assistant was taken to a nearby hospital,” said ­Mngomezulu.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said that when paramedics arrived on the scene the two trucks were in the middle of the road.
