Henry: respects Boks’idea to field depleted side

2011-07-13 00:00

AUCKLAND — All Blacks coach Graham Henry is not concerned about the Springboks’ decision to send an under-strength side to New Zealand and Australia during the Tri-Nations.

South Africa have decided injuries suffered by 21 of their leading players require rest and players of the quality of locks Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha and flanks Juan Smith and Schalk Burger are not included, said the All Blacks website.

Henry said, “My thoughts on that [South Africa’s policy] are immaterial. I respect what they have to do and that is their strategy for this particular rugby year.”
