‘Hero’ at the Hexagon

2008-02-21 00:00

Directed by Andrew Buckland, Hero is the latest offering from physical theatre performer Craig Morris, who wowed audiences last year with Blood Orange. Hero comes direct to the Hexagon from the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, after being at the Musho! festival in Durban in January.

According to the publicity this is “a heroic, physical hour of fun… nothing comes between the actor, the audience and his story.” And the story? Evil is attacking the City of Gold and stalking its citizens indiscriminately. Will the Fris Four, led by Captain Bliksem, be able to save them? Morris convinces audiences that the stage is filled with people and Johannesburg is actually on stage. “His zany antics and frenetic energy sweep us breathlessly along, taking us on a rollercoaster ride of satirical fun. And when he punches, he hits hard.”

Bookings: telephone 033 260 5537 or e-mail hexagon@ukzn.ac.za. Friday 29 February: a two-course dinner and show special for R100. The meal will be served before the show. Booking essential. Menu on inquiry. On Saturday 1 March: at 8 pm, the show only, tickets R50.
