Highway shut down as trucks collide

2014-04-12 00:00

THE N2 north from the N2 and N3 interchange was closed for nearly two hours yesterday after two trucks, one carrying 20 000 litres of a dangerous chemical, crashed.

eThekwini fire services divisional commander Alfred Newman said the road had to be closed around lunch time yesterday because one of the trucks, a tanker, was carrying ethanol.

There was slight spillage and one person was slightly injured and taken to hospital.

Newman said the fire department contained the leak and then transferred the ethanol into another tanker before the road could be re-opened.
