Hijack: Fleeing man shot

A 35-year-old man was shot in the stomach while trying to flee in his vehicle, which was about to be hijacked on Saturday night in Walker Street, Pietermaritzburg.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said that when Gizawe Sulite arrived home at about 7.30 pm, he saw two unknown men standing outside his premises. “As he immediately got back into his vehicle in an attempt to drive away, he was shot in the stomach by these men, who then fled the scene.”

Budhram said Sulite is in a stable condition. Investigations on the case are continuing and anyone with information please contact Captain Elias Shazi at 082 976 6756.
