Hired killer fingers local farmers

Members of the Organised Crime Unit are investigating claims by a hired assassin that he was instructed to carry out two murders at stud farms in the KZN midlands in 2004 by his former security company boss and two farmers.

The self-confessed assassin, Lucky Mlangeni (35) of Nelspruit, was jailed for life by Acting Judge Nompumelelo Radebe after he pleaded guilty to carrying out the contract murders of two stud farm employees — Simphiwe Trevor Ndlovu at St Ives farm in Howick on June 10, 2004 and Mandla Petros Masango at Rathmor Stud Farm at Nottingham Road on October 5, 2004.

Both men were ambushed and shot multiple times.

In his plea explanation, Mlangeni alleged that he carried out the killings at the behest of his former boss at Mapogo security company and two farmers, each of whom allegedly paid R5 000 for the murders.

The Witness has confirmed that the Organised Crime Unit has taken over the investigation into the case.
