Hockey: National men’s team sign two-year sponsorship

2013-04-25 00:00

SOUTH Africa’s preparation for next year’s Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands has received a major boost. The national men’s team, ranked 12th in the world, has secured a corporate sponsor for the first time in years.

The SA Hockey Association (Saha) had signed a deal with Mugg and Bean to fund the national side for the next two years, CEO Marissa Langeni said yesterday.

“We are pleased that this is a two-year commitment, which will include the World Cup in 2014,” Langeni said.

“This sponsorship will assist the SA men’s team in competing in top-class international events.”

Members of the national men’s squad have helped cover the team’s costs in recent seasons.
