IRB: Three PMB refs for Tests in November

THREE rugby referees with strong Pietermaritzburg ties, Craig Joubert, Marius Jonker and Stuart Berry, are among the International Rugby Board’s appointments for internationals over the next month.

SA’s four top rugby referees have been appointed to handle eight Tests during the November international window. Jonathan Kaplan, Jonker, Joubert and Mark Lawrence will officiate in these Tests, while Berry and Jason Jafta have been handed tournament appointments in the IRB’s World Sevens Series.

In addition, Lawrence and Joubert will take part in the Bledisloe Cup match between the All Blacks and the Wallabies in Tokyo.

The SA appointments made by the IRB are:

Jonathan Kaplan: November 15 – Ireland v Australia in Dublin; November 22 – England v New Zealand in London

Marius Jonker: November 14 – Georgia v Argentina in Tbilisi; November 22 – Ireland v Fiji in Dublin; November 28 – Namibia v Tunisia in Windhoek (RWC qualifier)

Craig Joubert: November 7 – Wales v New Zealand in Cardiff.

Mark Lawrence: October 31 – New Zealand v Australia in Tokyo (Bledisloe Cup); November 14 – Tunisia v Namibia in Tunis (RWC qualifier)

IRB World Sevens Series:

Stuart Berry – Wellington (NZ), Las Vegas (USA), London (England) and Edinburgh (Scotland).

Jason Jafta – Dubai (UAE) and George (South Africa).
