'Idols': Ntsime takes the fall, Nene survives to sing another day

2010-10-20 00:00

DURBAN’S Sindi Nene showed she really has nine lives when she survived again on Idols last night.

Instead, a shocked Boki Ntsime (21) of Johannesburg received the fewest votes.

There was a stunned silence in the audience as host ProVerb announced Ntsime’s name, because he had never before been in the bottom three, unlike Nene, who had to be saved by the judges two weeks ago.

Judge Gareth Cliff had told him he has the “most potential” of all the contestants.

“I didn’t expect it at all,” Ntsime told a press conference afterwards.

“Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and find it was all a dream and I’m still okay.”

Despite an opinion poll on five regional radio stations predicting that Nene (22) would go home, she survived to sing another week against Lloyd Cele of Durban and Elvis Blue of George.

But Ntsime has plans for the future: he wants to perform as much as possible while he’s still fresh in the public mind. “Idols was a wonderful opportunity and opened many doors for me. I’m going to make the most of it.” — Own Correspondent.
