Imbali: man dies, shot seven times

2007-12-06 00:00

A 47-year-old man was killed when he was shot seven times in an Imbali Township car wash yesterday afternoon.

Superintendent Henry Budhram said the victim, whose identity is yet to be determined, was at the disused kwaMangethe filling station in Stage 1 when an unknown man approached, and shot him as he walked past. The shooter returned and continued firing.

An off-duty traffic officer who was at the car wash shot at the gunman in an unsuccessful attempt to apprehend him.

The man may have been wounded, however, and police are trying to track him down.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.
