Impi vs Rhinos tie likely to be shifted

2013-04-19 00:00

THE unbeaten University of KZN Impi might not play Zululand Rhinos at King’s Park tomorrow and the match could return to its original venue and date at Peter Booysen Sports Park tonight, but Maritzburg Collegians will definitely be tackling Crusaders in KZN Premier Division action at Woodburn tonight.

That was the gist of developments yesterday after Impi head coach Shawn van Rensburg told The Witness that concerns about the King’s Park field being cut up during Saturday’s 2.45 pm Impi-Rhinos curtain-raiser to the Sharks-Cheetahs Super Rugby match could result in the KZN Premier Division match coming back to the KZN capital tonight.

“If the Impi-Rhinos match does come back to PMB, Friday’s 8.30 pm kick-off might work in our favour due to the long trek from Empangeni for the opposition,” said Van Rensburg.

“We will only know on Friday whether the rainy weather will force the change back to our home ground.”

The Rhinos are always a fiercely physical, competitive side who never give up and the Impi will need to be on top of their game to make it three wins in a row.

“We must take it to them up front, match them physically and beat them out wide,” Van Rensburg added.
