Inanda dam: Search continues today for body of drowned MK veteran

2013-01-09 00:00

THE search for Mkhonto Wesizwe Military Veterans’ Association branch chairperson Nduduzo “Sticks” Mdletshe, who drowned at Inanda Dam, Durban on Sunday, will continue today after a fruitless search yesterday.

“We stopped the search for the day and we will resume tomorrow (today),” Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

Mdletshe and two friends, MK veterans’ provincial chairperson Themba Mavundla and Lungelo Radebe, jumped into the dam for a swim after water-skiing, but Mdletshe struggled to get back to the boat.

The search for his body started on Sunday, but it was called off because of poor visibility. The spot where he drowned was marked and the search resumed on Monday.

Mdletshe’s family and representatives of the MKMVA, the Young Communist League, ANC and ANC Youth League were at the dam yesterday.
