Indian comedy, Italian intrigue

TWO excellent new series will make their debuts on South African television screens this week.

SABC3 brings viewers the sitcom Outsourced at 9 pm tonight. Set in an Indian workplace, the show centres on a catalogue-based company that sells American novelty goods, which have been outsourced to India.

Call centre manager Todd Dempsy (Ben Rappaport) has to embrace a new home and the Indian culture, an adjustment that is not always easy, but is always hilarious.

The show also stars Diedrich Bader, Pippa Black, Parvesh Cheena, Sacha Dhawan, Rebecca Halewood, Rizwan Manji and Anisha Nagarajan.

Over on M-Net, viewers will be able to catch the period drama The Borgias at 10 pm tomorrow.

Created by Neil Jordan, the series is based on the Borgia family, an Italian dynasty of Spanish origin, who rose to the pinnacle of the church in the 15th century.

The series stars veteran actor Jeremy Irons alongside David Oakes, François Arnaud, Holliday Grainger and Aidan Alexander. — Arts Editor.
