Jeffares & Green Consulting Engineers, established in 1922, is set to undertake work for Umgeni Water to the tune of more than R100 million, while also being involved in a bulk water supply scheme project in the Lesotho lowlands together with SSI.

In addition, Pietermaritzburg office head and award winning bridge engineer, Corrie Meintjes told The Witness that the firm will also be involved in the development of the largest dam in Botswana, the Dikgatlong Dam, estimated to be almost twice the size of Midmar Dam.

The growth in business opportunities at Jeffares & Green has led to the company arranging with developers for the establishment of a 2 300 square-metre new office building at Cascades.

Speaking at a recent event held to celebrate the 85th anniversary, Meintjes reflected on the deep history of the firm. The Pietermaritzburg office is home to 70 of the 300 staff members employed by Jeffares & Green Consulting Engineers in South Africa.

The event was also used as an opportunity to launch the book Chronicles from the Bushveld.
