KZN Coastal teams selected for national cricket week

2013-10-12 00:00

THE KZN Coastal selectors have been at work selecting four teams to take part in the National Cricket Week during December. KZN Inland have again lagged behind in their deliberations. These will be announced shortly.

It is not surprising to see that at U19 and U17 level, the majority of players come from four schools making up the top sides in the area. One minor surprise is that Westville, currently the top side, does not have as many players selected as Glenwood.

Of the 13 selected in each age group, Glenwood have five at U19 and three in the U17, while Westville have four in the U19 and two in the U17 team. DHS and Kearsney, with two each, make up the reminder of the U19 team.

There is plenty of experience in the U19 team with five players — Nhlakinipho Madwe, Andile Phehlukwayo (both Glenwood), Sibonele Makhanya (DHS), Luke Schlemmer (Westville) and Tyler Smith (Kearsney) — all having played U19s last year.
