KZN Inland Premier players watch Dolphins in action

2012-11-07 00:00

ONCE again there was no action for the KZN Inland Premier club cricketers, but this time it wasn’t due to the weather.

In order to afford the club lads the opportunity to watch the Momentum One Day Cup match between the KZN Dolphins and Cape Cobras at the Maritzburg Oval, the weekend’s scheduled fixtures were eventually postponed. They will take place on December 16.

While the KZN Inland provincial side will be tackling South Western Districts at the PMB Oval this weekend, rounds four and five of the KFC Premier T20 competition take place this Sunday and there are some interesting match-ups, not least those between home side Varsity and Standard at 9 am, and Lancashire against Zingari at the same time on the Collegians Club ground.

The annual Country Districts’ Week takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week.

Meanwhile, Stephan Joubert (55 and five for 22) starred with bat and ball as Uthungulu hammered African Warriors by 100 runs in the KZN Coastal Premier 50 action last Sunday.

Leg-spinner Abdul Hack Razak (five for 25) and Tshepo Moreki (three for 19) combined to dismiss Delta for a paltry 76 before opening batsmen Greg Ford (42 not out) and Tyler Trenoweth (33 not out) steered DHS Rhythm to a 10-wicket victory.

In the other matches, Chatsworth United edged Pinetown by one wicket, Chatsworth Sporting accounted for Berea Rovers by 48 runs and Crusaders demolished Topham in an eight-wicket triumph.
