KZN teachers, pupils honoured

2007-11-28 00:00

Those who won first and second positions in national competitions in 2007 and those who represented South Africa in 2006 and 2007 were personally congratulated and thanked by KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Ina Cronjé and Education Head Dr Cassius Lubisi.

Education spokeswoman Christi Naudé said: “An interesting programme was put together, using the talents of top achievers”.

Cronje and Lubisi said the function was also “a tribute to educators and coaches who walked more than the extra mile to train, advise and support learners”.

Awards were handed over to learners, for excelling academically, in arts and culture and sports.

Seelan Naidoo, a teacher at Mountview Secondary School in Verulam, said their school was the only state school to have a pupil placed in the top 10 of last year’s matrics.
