KZN’S TOP 10 MATRICULANTS REMAIN UNKNOWN AS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SUFFERS GLITCH IN COMPUTER SYSTEM

2010-01-08 00:00

THE names of the province’s top 10 matriculants have not been released because of a computer glitch in the Education Department’s IT system.

Every year, the top 10 pupils are awarded prizes at a special function in Durban.

Only the top adult learners and those who excelled in maths, physical science and accounting were given awards yesterday.

It is believed that a computer glitch also resulted in showing only pupils who received eight distinctions. Those who received nine and 10 distinctions were excluded from the department lists.

Department head Dr Cassius Lubisi said the top pupils will be announced either today or early next week in Pietermaritzburg.
