DURA-VENTURES and Dura Cycles hosted the fifth and final round of the Mountain Bike Knight Series at Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds in Uvongo last Friday. Racing started at 6pm with the various age groups setting off at different intervals.

Southcity’s Evan van der Spuy set a record lap time of just over 12 minutes for the junior men’s title, while Jono Downham was crowned elite men’s champion.

Johan Potgieter and Brad Bailey won the master men’s and veteran men’s titles respectively, and the father and son duo of Brian and Cale Lindecke clinched the sub veteran men’s and nippers boys titles.

Dominic de Bruin sealed the sprog boys title, Brandon Venter won the youth boys division and Bermatt Viljoen and Tayne Rudling claimed the sub junior boys and sub nippers boys titles.

Rose amongst the thorns, Megan Bircher, was without peer and won the nipper girls division.

“Night riding is a relatively new concept in mountain biking.

“It really is a whole lot of fun and Dura Cycles will definitely be hosting more events of this nature in the near future,” commented a pleased Bjorn Wikstrom of Dura-Ventures and Dura Cycles at the prize-giving. — Witness Reporter.
