Langalibalele Dube’s daughter says ANC has to do more

2014-05-08 00:00

LULU Dube, the daughter of the late Dr Langalibalele Dube, voted at the Ohlange voting station, Inanda where the late president Nelson Mandela cast his first vote in 1994.

Dube (85) said that in order to have peace and harmony, the government needed to keep the promises made to the people.

“The ANC government has done a great job but there is still more to be done. I won’t single out particular promises, what I’m saying is that promises made must be honoured. There’s a need for stringent measures in place to work towards providing the necessary basic services to the people,” said Dube.

She warned that the influx of people from rural settlements into urban areas in search of jobs would make it difficult to see the work done by the government in terms of the provision of housing and other basic services.

“When one person is moved into a house, another one or more move into the next vacant piece of land. So this is a challenge that needs to be taken seriously,” she said.
