Laundries fitted for Gaga’s costumes

2012-11-29 00:00

LAUNDRIES had to be installed at the two SA stadiums where U.S. singer Lady Gaga is to perform tomorrow and on Monday.

The laundries to wash the large number of performance outfits of the energetic star and her 200-person entourage, were the biggest of the requests she made to concert promoters Big Concerts.

Boss Attie van Wyk said six or seven minibuses were needed just to transport her outfits from Lanseria Airport after her arrival on Tuesday evening.

He said special dressing rooms had been built under the stages at both stadiums so she can make quick changes.

Her entourage is the biggest they have ever dealt with.

They are staying in various Johannesburg hotels.

He wouldn’t elaborate on most of Gaga’s requests, but said she wants to go “on safari”.

Meanwhile, hundreds of her fans — who call themselves “little monsters” — were disappointed when the police hustled Lady Gaga straight through the airport after her delayed arrival.

Some who hung around consoling each other were lucky though, when the star herself demanded to return to the airport and greeted fans, signing autographs and posing for pictures.

“This is the highlight of my life,” screamed one teary fan.
