Load-shedding on hold

2014-06-18 00:00

THE load-shedding schedule printed in The Witness last Friday will only come into effect if Eskom requires extra capacity. Many readers have phoned The Witness to complain that the schedule is wrong because their power has not gone off.

Over the weekend, Eskom was able to cope with the demand and no load-shedding was required. Check www.eskom.co.za to see if load-shedding is under way.

Yesterday, Eskom warned that it might have to shed load tonight and tomorrow “due to expected high demand related to the weather”.

The company has previously urged users to switch off appliances and geysers during the 5 pm to 9 pm peak, and especially between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm, when the peak was most pronounced. — WR.
