Local band releases an EP

Pietermaritzburg indie rock band The Ranks, that has been signed to the Johannesburg-based publishing company Justice and Mercy, will ­finally be releasing its debut EP sky mountain brave on May 8.

The EP, a collection of recordings from the past two years, contains five tracks and will also be available in Look and Listen stores as well as on iTunes for digital download.

The Ranks have been playlisted on East Coast Radio and last year won 5fm’s Demo Bag competition.

The show starts at 7 pm and takes place at the 11th Scout Hall at the top of Old Howick Road (Lexton).

The show is suitable for all ages and entrance is R30, or free if you buy an EP for R60. Support acts include Smith small, Superlative, Thomas Crane, Arise band and Scarlett Hill.
