Low ticket prices and great prizes at merrivale’s maiden Oktoberfest

2010-09-15 00:00

BOOKINGS are open at Computicket for this year’s Oktoberfest, which will be staged at Pecanwood farm in Merrivale on Friday, October 8.

The Witness will be there and oompah bands will team up with some of the province’s most popular bands.

A ticket bought in advance through Computicket will cost just R69. Tickets at the gate will sell for R80. For that, patrons will get a full night’s worth of fun, entertainment and food … and to ensure that no one needs to drink and drive, camping facilities are included in the package at no extra charge.

The organisers have deliberately kept the prices low to encourage as many visitors as possible to come and experience this inaugural midlands festival, which they expect will become an annual event on the local social calendar.

Gates will open at noon and the live bands will start at 2 pm, playing until late. Twenty-four-hour security will be provided. Patrons will not be allowed to bring their own alcohol on to the premises. The event will come to a close the following day at 10 am.

Competitions running through the night will offer the contestants fabulous prizes, including a trip of a lifetime for two to the 2011 Oktoberfest in Germany. Every SAB product purchased will qualify the patron for another entry in the draw.

The prize, includes return flights to London, airport taxes, a five-day Contiki tour, including breakfasts, and accommodation at the Contiki Tent Village in the heart of Oktoberfest territory, with regular shuttles to and from the Oktoberfest grounds. The prize is sponsored by Student Flights and Contiki. The winner will be announced at the end of the evening.

Other activities running through the night include the king and queens of the Oktoberfest contests, in which drinking teams will compete for great prizes and create an unforgettable Oktoberfest atmosphere, unlike any seen outside of Germany.

Be sure to get your tickets soon and get your friends there too for the night out of the year!
