Macabre video shows Pistorius re-enacting fateful night

2014-07-07 00:00

A MACABRE video of Oscar Pistorius re-enacting step by step on his stumps how he shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, caused shudders around the world this weekend.

The video is made even more upsetting by the fact that Pistorius’s sister, Aimée, portrays Steenkamp.

The video shows Pistorius hobbling on his stumps, Aimée lying next to a toilet, Pistorius picking her up and carrying her downstairs and Pistorius himself lying next to a toilet.

His voice is heard, screaming “Get out of my f****** house!”, “God, help, please help me!”, and over and over, “Reeva! Reevaaa!”

The video was made as part of Pistorius’s preparation for his murder trial.

Scott Roder, the American forensic expert who did the reconstruction, was not called as a witness.

Pistorius’s lawyer, Brian Webber, tried his best to prevent the video being broadcast, but Australian Channel 7 went ahead at about 12.45 pm SA time yesterday, showing the video as part of a documentary titled Running Scared on its Sunday Night programme.

It was only broadcast in Australia, but sister paper Beeld saw the programme via Skype with the help of online readers in Australia.

The first scene shows Pistorius in the home of his uncle, Arnold, in Waterkloof, Pretoria.

Webber said the video was intended for trial purposes and its broadcast breached an agreement.

“We wish to make it very clear that the material that has been aired was obtained illegally and in breach of the non-disclosure agreement with The Evidence Room [a U.S. company specialising in forensic animation],” he said in a statement.
