Mall without water due to burst water pipe

2013-10-24 00:00

THE Liberty Midlands Mall was left without water yesterday when a municipal water pipe burst.

The pipe, which is the main supply of water to the whole mall, burst at around 11 am. Toilet facilities were closed to the public and employees while the pipe was being fixed. The pipe was fixed at around 4 pm yesterday afternoon.

Regarding the water disruption, centre manager of Liberty Midlands Mall Umi Khan said, “Unfortunately our tenants were affected as all restaurants and food outlets require water for food preparation. We also had to temporarily close our ablution facilities for hygiene purposes. Alternative facilities were investigated; however, due to the prompt action of the municipality, they [were] no longer required as all toilets have been reopened.”
