Man, car missing

2010-10-16 00:00

A MIDLANDS man who told his cousin and flatmate he was on his way to visit his mother in Pinetown has vanished.

Ferdinand Carl Kieck (22) worked at his father’s (Erwin) construction company in Paulpietersburg, but shared a flat with his cousin in Wartburg. They were working on a water pipe installation project in Paulpietersburg when he disappeared last, Wednesday. According to his mother, Ingrid Kieck, “Ferdie”, as she calls him, went to the flat after work, loaded his washing basket in his bakkie and told his cousin that he was on his way to visit her.

Kieck was told by her husband about her son’s disappearance.

“My husband phoned to tell me that my son was missing. I checked with hospitals and on Sunday I reported the matter to the Pinetown police.

“Later on I was informed that his bank card has been used in Mooi Street garage in Johannesburg to withdraw money and to fill petrol on the day he went missing and the following day. I just pray that it was him who made those transactions,” said Kieck.

The last time she saw her son was about three weeks ago.

“I’m hurting because my son has a kidney problem and is allergic to penicillin. Anyone who might have seen him please contact the police,” said the mother.

Erwin, who is not working on the site said he was informed on Thursday by his brother Anton about the disappearance of his son. He said they looked everywhere and his cellphone is off.

“Ferdie” was driving his white Ford Bantam with registration number NN 39429.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said neither the man nor his car were found.

A report of a missing person has been compiled.
