A MAN was killed while his wife and two children were seriously injured when their bakkie overturned and rolled near Durban on Sunday night.

The accident happened near the Adams Road Bridge in Amanzimtoti.

Netcare911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said the driver, who died at the scene as a result of injuries, was entrapped in the wreck of his vehicle.

“A woman seated in the cab sustained serious injuries.

“She was extricated from the vehicle by medics while others worked on treating and stabilising the injured children who had been in the bin of the bakkie,” Wicks said.

In an accident on the N3 near the Pavilion yesterday evening, ER24’s Derrick Banks said eight people, including children aged six and eight, were injured in a pile-up involving three trucks and six other vehicles.

Wicks said the N3’s south bound lane had to be closed for about four hours as the clean-up was taking place.
