2011-09-28 00:00

THREE girls aged 14, 15 and 17 were raped at their house in Betania. The girls, who are living with their aunt, were alone and asleep when an unknown man broke and entered into the house.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid said the aunt was attending a vigil of a family member and had left the girls sleeping in her house. “When she arrived home at around 2 am the girls told her that a man broke into the house and raped them.”

The girls said that the man broke the lock on the door and entered the house at 10 pm.

“The intruder had threatened them with a knife and then raped all three of them.”

The victims describe the suspects as being about 40 years of age, light in complexion, with an an afro hair style, big eyes and full lips.

He was wearing black pants and a brown and black jacket on the night of the rapes.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Emelda Niemack on 039 688 7900.

Wiid said that females must be cautious especially after dark wherever they are.

“Criminals are everywhere. Besides being raped, women can also fall prey to robbery or assault,” said Wiid.
