Man shot for his cellphone

A MAN was gunned down for his cellphone in Colenso during the early hours of yesterday morning.

The police are on the hunt for a group of three people who left a man lying in a pool of blood after shooting him as he was leaving his home at about 4.40 am.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said “they shot him in the stomach and then fled, taking his cellphone with them”.

The injured man was rushed to hospital where he later died.

According to the police, the deceased has not yet been officially identified and as case of murder is being investigated.

His family were too distraught to speak to the media yesterday.
