Mannya’s job contract terminated in confidential deal

FORMER head of the KZN Department of Agriculture Modidima Mannya is officially no longer employed by the provincial government.

This was confirmed in a press statement released on behalf of KZN Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize yesterday were it was stated that Mannya’s employment contract has effectively been terminated.

Mkhize said a mutual agreement has been reached by the parties concerned and all issues relating to the employment relationship, as well as the terms of the agreement, will be kept confidential.

Mannya’s term was officially terminated on November 30 and the post has since been advertised, said the statement.

In July this year, The Witness reported that Mannya was found guilty on 16 counts of misconduct after a disciplinary inquiry was instituted against him.

He subsequently took the matter to court where he won the right to appeal. In turn, the provincial government appealed the court ruling and the matter was meant to be heard earlier this month, but was then suddenly withdrawn.

It was understood at the time that some kind of settlement had been reached.
